Facebook posting most common social networking activity at association events

By Association Adviser staff • November 5, 2012

Based on the proliferation of mobile devices seen at association events, it’s safe to say your members aren’t just showing up to attend and learn—they’re there to report. According to last month’s Association Adviser enews reader poll, nearly 30 percent of respondents said attendees are posting instant updates and photos on their Facebook pages right from the show floor or lobby. Blogging by attendees (15.7 percent) is the second most common activity seen by our readers, followed by tweeting (14.7 percent) and LinkedIn updates (13.7 percent).

We expect this type of engagement to increase as mobile technology improves and as tight budgets continue to encourage attendees to justify their time at the event and share what they’ve learned with the home office.
