GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Naylor, LLC, North America’s leading provider of media and event management solutions for associations, announces the acquisition of Global Exchange Events (GEE), a leading producer of appointment-based “exchange events” located in Darien, CT. In 2012 GEE produced 10 exchange events and is planning a minimum of 13 in 2013.

“Adding exchange event expertise and capability is a logical extension of the Naylor menu of print, digital and event offerings, and we now have market-leading expertise in what is a rapidly emerging type of event,” says Alex DeBarr, Naylor President and CEO. “Exchange events can be a high value offering for associations and their members and supplier members. It brings industry leading suppliers together with key members in a model that can include strong non-dues revenue opportunities.”

The GEE business will remain in their Darien, CT location, and will be run separate from NaylorCMG which is located in Fairfax, VA. NaylorCMG currently has 17 trade shows under management for associations, and is coming off its most successful year ever in 2012.

Sometimes referred to as a “reverse trade show,” a typical exchange event pairs 60-75 top buyers from a single industry with an equal number of key suppliers for pre-scheduled and pre-qualified 20-minute appointments. Suppliers pay a fee that is significantly less than full trade show exhibit fees for their participation, and buyers attend the exchange free of charge. Keynote speakers and planned networking events round out the event schedule. The program can be held with or without an existing event, conference or trade show.

GEE reports that more than 80% of exhibitors and attendees renew their participation from event to event, proving that both buyers and sellers see high value in the event concept and execution.

GEE founder and President, Robert Ingraham, will join Naylor as Executive Vice President of Naylor/Global Exchange Events. Ingraham is a longtime business-to-business event and media executive who has successfully launched and sold event businesses and also worked at leading business-to-business media firms Reed Exhibitions, Advanstar Communications and The McGraw-Hill Companies.

GEE is the firm that managed Naylor’s highly successful Builder Exchange Event, which launched in 2011. The Builder Exchange franchise will grow to four events in 2013. Other GEE events include the Global Beauty & Wellness Exchange, Work Boats Exchange, Global Incentive Meetings Exchange, Wealth Investment Exchange, Retail Technology Exchange, Condé Nast Traveler Exchange, Premier Meetings Exchange and Americas 12 Metre Executive Summits.

In addition to producing Exchange events, GEE utilizes proprietary matchmaking software that allows the entire process to be both efficient and effective for organizers and participants.
